Album pick, September 2026

This month I had another really hard time picking an album, however this time it was not due to an abundance of choices, but for an entirely different reason… I think, I am not wrong when I say that these last few months it has been a, mentally, hard period for everyone. It has been especially so and this has reflected itself in the music I have been listening to.

Throughout the years, I have noticed that when I am getting close to a burn-out, my music preference shifts from metal to more house/electro en more specifically Russian (and Ukrainian) house and electro. To the point I have received badges on my music streaming app (0.02% worldwide for Grivina, for example).

In this light, I would like to present the somewhat ironically named “Сладкая Жизнь” (the sweet life) by IC3PEAK. I doubt many people speak russian, so I will be translating some parts here and there.

The title of the album stands in harsh contrast with the effective contents of the album, this has been done on purpose, since IC3PEAK does a lot of social and political commentary through their music. The last track on the album, “Вечная Жизнь” (eternal life), ends with the following lyrics:

Eternal life I fall asleep in my grave Sweet life I fall asleep in my grave

More than this I won’t say about the album, definitely have a listen! If you can, you should definitely find the lyrics and run them through a translator. All I can say is that it is very applicable to how I am feeling at this moment!

My favourite from this album is “Грустная сука” (Sad Bitch). They made a music video for this track. The clip itself is quite bleak, but is very typical for the style IC3PEAK usually goes for.
