Music is a really important aspect of my life, and I cannot imagine my life without it. There are very few moments throughout the day that I am not listening to music. That is why I have decided to highlight my favourite or most impactful album at the end of each month.

For the first month of 2026, I want to highlight one of my all-time favourite albums: May Our Chambers Be Full by Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou.

It is a very unique combination of post-rock / indie & sludge / doom metal, two opposites that are a match made in heaven.

The contrast between the doom and gloom, on one hand, and on the other hand the hopeful and light at the end of the tunnel are mirrored very beautifully in the cooperation between Thou and Emma Ruth Rundle.

It is not the heaviest or most special album. Nor are there any crazy or rebellious stories behind it. And yet I find myself coming back to this album again and again. It has certainly become an album that is very near to my heart.

This album always evokes a certain feeling of melancholy in me; specifically the last track on the album “The Valley”. This song cuts me to the bone, every time I hear it; especially the following part:

I want to step into the armor of another, stronger

I want to look once through the eyes of someone good
